Tracy Thoburn – President, EMO TRANS Canada Group of Companies

Tracy was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec and graduated from Dawson College with a degree in retail management and a strong secondary emphasis on business and international business courses.

He started his shipping career right after graduating, working for Sofati Container Line and subsequently Montship (then called Montreal Shipping). Both were steamship line agencies representing numerous global carriers. In 1998 he became the General Manager of CTO International Ltd a vessel operator, agent and NVOCC. He resided in Montreal until 1996.

Tracy relocated from Montreal to Toronto and started with EMO TRANS in Nov 1996. In 2000 he became a minority shareholder and Vice President of EMO TRANS Canada and at the end of 2004 he purchased the remaining shares in the company and became only the second President in the company’s history.

Tracy has a varied and extensive background in all aspects of international ocean and air freight shipping and commerce. He has two children Stephanie and Jordan, and he currently resides in the Toronto area along with his wife Colleen.  He enjoys many outdoor activities along with his passion of playing golf as often as time permits.

 

Colleen Thoburn – V.P. Business Development

Colleen was born in Hamilton, Ontario and grew up in Thornhill, Ontario.  She graduated from Retter Business College in Toronto in 1984.  She then held various positions in the medical and legal field before becoming Office Manager of The Xenos Group in Markham, Ont. in 1989.

From 1995 to 2005 she took on a Sales & Marketing role with Welke Customs Brokers / Welke Global Logistics and gained extensive experience in all areas of the logistics industry.

After 4 years with Lamontagne Fundraising helping schools and organizations with their fundraising efforts, in 2009 Colleen joined her husband Tracy at EMO TRANS in Sales Development and Marketing.  Together with their amazing customer service team, they have grown the business to where it is today.

Colleen has 2 children, Stephanie and Jordan.  Hobbies include spending time with her family, hiking and reading.

 

Alex Paragamian – Regional Director and Partner

EMO TRANS Logistiques Ltee / EMO TRANS Logistics Ltd

Alex is of Armenian decent and his family moved to Montreal, Canada in 1962. Upon graduating from college, Alex took his first “shipping” job as a customs runner with Panalpina for a few years but then decided to return to school to attend University.

The shipping business however continued to call out to Alex and in 1982 he joined Imopac in Montreal – a forwarder that specialized in Government of Canada external affair department contracts (and other departments like department of national defense etc) and during his 8 years there he was involved in every aspect of the operations. In 1991 Alex moved on to join Premier Cargo and eventually became a partner in the company and by 2006 was the sole owner. Premier Cargo was EMO TRANS’ handling agent in Quebec for many years leading up to the opening of our own office.

In 2007, Alex was the key component in agreeing to wind up Premier Cargo and establish EMO TRANS’ own office in Montreal. He is the Regional Director of EMO TRANS in Quebec. As a partner in EMO TRANS Logistiques Ltee, he oversees our Montreal branch and all of our operations in Quebec and the Maritime provinces.

Alex brings extensive freight forwarding and project experience to EMO TRANS in Canada. He resides in the Montreal area and still enjoys participating in Ice Hockey in the winter and Golf during the warmer months of the year.

 

David Shamash, Branch Manager – EMO TRANS (West Canada) Limited

David has a strong passion for the Logistics and Supply Chain industry. He genuinely enjoys working with people and has had many successes leading teams with the common objective of providing excellent customer service and surpassing company goals. Working solely in the International Logistics and Supply Chain field over the past 12 years has afforded him many friendships and lasting relationships with customers, carriers, vendors, and forwarders alike. While his early days were focused primarily on Operations, he has grown over the past 5 years working at large 3PL companies to appreciate and learn the managerial side of this industry as well as gained valuable experience in customer retention and sales.

 

Perry C. Northey – Vice President  &  Partner,  EMO North Customs Brokers Ltd.

Perry graduated from the Customs Administration Program of Sir Sanford Fleming College in 1991.  After working in junior positions for a few customs brokers, in 1998 Perry was successful in completing the Professional exam and obtained his Customs Brokers License.

After he obtained his license, Perry continued to gain further experience and was even brought into a company in order to start up their brokerage division.  Through the years, Perry has established many extensive and important contacts with the Canada Border Services Agency.   In August 2013 he joined the EMO TRANS Canada team as V.P. and Partner of EMO North Customs Brokers Ltd.

Perry enjoys hunting and fishing with his wife Mellissa, and their 2 sons Brodey and Stihl.
