Service Disruptions Likely in Paris Region Due to Olympic Games

The Olympic and Paralympic Games will take place July 26 to August 11 and August 28 to September 8 in France. The Paris region will be the epicenter, although eight cities in metropolitan France will also be hosting Olympic events. Our team at EMO Trans France has advised that this major event will have a significant impact on delivery and pickup of goods in the Paris region, as well as to and from the Paris CDG airport hub.

Slowdowns are expected throughout the Paris region due to:

  • Reserved lanes (180km dedicated to Olympic athletes and staff)
  • The increased number of people and goods to be delivered
  • Blocked access/a need to bypass entire neighborhoods
  • Accreditation and controls by public authorities

In some areas, the circulation of delivery vehicles will be restricted or prohibited. For example, “blue zones“ around Olympic venues will have access authorized only with proof of identity, such as a delivery note. “Red zones“ very close to the Olympic venues forbid access to all motor vehicles, except by special dispensation.

These zones will change from day to day, depending on the program of events, and alternative solutions must be found. Although disruptions and delays are expected, our EMO Trans team in France will do their best to deliver exceptional service solutions to customers.
